Cornwall Airport Newquay Adds Transatlantic Connectivity

Aer Lingus have announced that from March 2017 passengers will be able to fly from Cornwall Airport Newquay to North America and Canada (via Dublin) from just £229 each way.  Fares include a checked-through bag, meals, in-flight entertainment and more. 

Destinations now bookable include New York, Boston, Hartford and Chicago, with Toronto on sale from January.

When you fly from Cornwall Airport Newquay with Aer Lingus Regional you can also complete U.S. Immigration pre-clearance in Dublin before you board your connecting flight, saving you time and hassle when you arrive stateside.

Commenting on the latest airline announcement, Al Titterington, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay said: “Expanding our route network through cost effective, indirect routes further enhances the destination options available to those wishing to fly from Cornwall and the added bonus of the Immigration pre-clearance in Dublin will be of real benefit to passengers using this route to access North America. The routes also increase the number of overseas markets that can reach Cornwall with ease, helping to further support the tourism sector and economy of Cornwall.”

According to Martin Saxton, Chief Commercial Officer at Stobart Air (operator of Aer Lingus Regional): “We are pleased to be able to connect Cornwall based customers to Aer Lingus’s main line trans-Atlantic services via Dublin. 

“With four flights weekly between Cornwall and Dublin currently and up to seven flights weekly during summer months, Aer Lingus Regional passengers can now do pre-clearance in Dublin before flying to US and Canadian cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto.  This service is designed to save time and hassle for Cornwall passengers on their transatlantic travel and offer them an affordable, time efficient and convenient route to the US, be that for business or pleasure.”   

The new transatlantic connections from Cornwall Airport Newquay via Dublin have been made possible by a further increase in the frequency of the Newquay to Dublin Aer Lingus service for 2017 (operated by Stobart Air), marking the second successive year of the Airline’s growth at Cornwall Airport Newquay since the route launched in 2015.

Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) offers year-round flights to and from London Gatwick, Manchester and Leeds Bradford with Flybe; and Dublin with Aer Lingus. As well as offering direct connectivity to these key cities, the routes offer passengers the opportunity to make connections to and from destinations across the UK, Europe and worldwide. Daily direct flights also operate between Newquay and the Isles of Scilly with Skybus throughout the year.

Additional regional and international routes operate in the summer season. For 2016 these included Belfast City, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Birmingham, London Stansted, Aberdeen, Doncaster, Glasgow and Liverpool (Flybe); Dusseldorf (Eurowings); Alicante and Frankfurt-Hahn (Ryanair).

Confirmed new routes for 2017 include Faro with Ryanair.

Cornwall Airport Limited (CAL) is 100% owned by CORSERV which is a wholly owned company of Cornwall Council. CAL is the operator of Cornwall Airport Newquay. Passenger numbers at the airport continue to grow and the total in 2015 was over 250,000 – the second year of double digit growth. The passenger forecast for 2016 is 375,000 – a 50% year on year increase.
